gratitude

This post took several weeks to write, edit and illustrate. I really enjoyed working on it because it made me feel close to my dad.

I loved this, and I thank you for it. My own dad has been gone for years, and I remember him every time I pass by a singing waterfall. He loved falling water, and we wandered together for many miles looking for waterfalls.

Wonderful tribute to your Dad! You've definitely captured the excitement. Interesting how the price was 5 cents then, and now it's $5.

Your father would be proud of his daughter--who expresses her love and appreciation for him (and for Buster!) so beautifully.

Just wonderful!
I find myself stringing many of my dad's pearls now.

Thanks for sharing the lovely story. I totally understand the "pearls before swine" aspect. There are SO MANY things I would have appreciated later in life that I didn't at the time. I remember we got to see King Tut's treasures on an elementary school trip. I wish I could see them today!

Caroline, I appreciate how much time it must have taken to draw this post, and how much you much have enjoyed doing it. It is beautiful! That firm strip alone is marvelous!

Your dad is smiling.

Caroline - wow! This is such a special post in so many ways. The crowd scenes are amazing. There is so much detail in each one. I can't even imagine how long it took to come up with that many different faces! But it's also special because you capture so much emotion. I'm really impressed. AND, I miss Dad too.

Hi Caroline...

The details are amazing! So it was movies for your dad... Mine, it was Matt Monroe songs... It's mandatory to include Matt Monroe's songs in our karaoke repertoire... :)

The time it took for this post to be completed was well worth it!

How can you keep getting better and better? I loved the last post, but this one just took my breath away.

We're traveling out to go through my father in law's things next week -- he passed away last summer and my husband really didn't deal with it, but the thought of the upcoming trip is weighing heavily on him and I have to keep reminding him it's okay to be sad. He should be sad. I'm going to make him look at this post and let the sweetness wash over him like it did me. Very healing -- thanks.

What a touching story, and what a tribute to your dad (hope I'm right in assuming that's who it is). Thank you for sharing your gratitude.

This was very touching and beautiful! I just found your blog from a comment on Grace's yoga :)

What wonderful art! At times I find myself feeling a connection to a loved one passed through experience. It's nice.

Blessings!
