Quiet moment

I hope you enjoy the stories that this illustration tells. I drew this last year at a local wine shop/coffee bar. I have since added color and shadow, then cropped it, then used Photoshop to intensify the light.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the kind words. My computer will return from the shop within the week. I will then be able to visit blogs and leave comments.

Hi Caroline... Another great work... I like the highlight and the intensity you have added to the lights...

I like wine but I could only take a few sips... I am allergic to alcohol... :)

I love the picture. It boggles the mind to think of all that detail work you did. Beautiful.

The colors are so mellow and yet so vivid, and there's a general ambiance of warmth...Makes me want to rush out to that wine bar/coffee shop this minute!

Hi Crayons,
I like this drawing a lot. I hope you never learn to "draw," as in be trained. All of the charm here comes from its naive savvy. I love the ambiance.

Hello there :) Thank you so much for your nice comment :D ,

I chanced upon your blog some months ago...I think in December of 08. I've really liked your past drawings and I still like them just as much. It's so refreshing, the way you tell a story through your drawings :) and the colours look so beautiful. I wish I had the talent :) I have gone through ALL of your posts, ha, right back to the first one! I look forward to them because they are very different from the rest! I too get easily depressed, not a very good thing... but I can feel it slowly dying out of me :) Have a nice day!! Take care! I'll be coming back to visit as well :)

I love this post. That gentleman in the rendering. We would like to know more about him. He has that certain, I don't know, je ne sais quoi, like someone who has traveled around the world on wonderful adventures - but in the end - finds that a cheap bottle of French table wine shared among friends in their local cafe is the greatest adventure yet. And at the same time he looks longingly - as if something or someone has been missing from his life. I really love the depth to which you brought this character to life. Please tell us, who was your inspiration. There seems to be a story within a story there.

Hi Melba -- I'll write back on your blog.

T.R. Yes, this is indeed a drawing of you. And it's not a cheap bottle at all. It's in the expensive Chilean section. I'll write to you in the next day or so.
