And I bet that's the happiest you've ever been arriving to work, right? Ugh, horrible story, but funny pictures!

The image of you tumbling down the hill is brilliantly drawn. You probably didn't enjoy your journey but I sure did!

Your drawings are wonderful!

I hate it when I encounter a place that was clearly designed with no thought whatsoever given to walkers and/or cyclists.

Marianne, yes, exactly. I was frozen like a board. I walked into the building as if it were an enchanted castle.

Selma and mojoman, thanks for the early-morning responses. Actually I loved tumbling down the hill.

Dahling,
Really fun post. Your great storytelling improves with each post. I love the moustache on the driver. The hill slide is great. As always, you make me feel like I am there. By the way, if it’s 3 degrees, you really should be wearing a hat.

Eek! Sorry about the car trouble in such nasty weather! I love the pane where you're slip sliding down the hill--very effective. Sorry for the experience, though!

That was extremely entertaining for me, so sorry that you had to experience it though. Your drawings are great.

Yikes!

You didn't even mention that all the schools in a 200 mile radius were closed because of extreme temperatures, cold and ice yesterday!

(I love your blog and have been lurking for the last few weeks. I live on the far west side-in that suburb that shares Lake Mendota with Madison)

I enjoyed your tumble, too!
Will you take the bus again?

Trying to read Ticht on a bus - you must have amazing concentration. I am so glad this story had a happy ending. I was panicking for you. I loved your tumble and laughed when despite the life-threatening cold -- you stopped to ID milkweed.

You seem indefatigable and spry in this post - like someone who received a secret of good news.

Glorious adventure! I think you made it look like more fun than it really was. Three degrees????

You could write a cartoon TV Soap opera and it would be a hit with your pictures ! Great job.

I'm with Selma on enjoying your trip to work and especially the tumble down the hill. It was really cold to have missed your bus stop ... that's what happens when I'm reading. I'm off in another world and forget about time and space.

I love the colour of your coat and scarf! Both are beautiful.

I have also started riding the bus to my class downtown, and it feels like such an adventure. Is this the right route? What if it's not? Is the driver going to be friendly or unfriendly? Etc. etc. I think I used to have your driver -- the one with the mustache -- back when I was an undergrad! The other day I met another rider at my stop, a blind man whom I have seen around literally for years, and never spoken to before. We sat together and had a lovely chat, and now I know his name and that he hates George Bush as much as I do!

BTW, I think Research Park is where the ponies used to be. Sigh.

Hi Caroline - this is fun.
News from Sag H. Boris died - two Feb.s ago - on Valentine's Day - traumatic! A stroke! I raced him to the vet wheezing and they gave him kitty oxygen (special) and he died about half an hour later. Have new Siberian - Nico - Nicolas Nicolayevich, Ruby , two "gum ball" conures, and Tinker. Next door the renamed kitty you so kindly took his still making the elderly John very very happy and vice versa.
Good luck with the blog. Jane J

Thanks for your comment on my blog regarding my shorebird photos. I bopped on over here to see your blog. This is =fantastic=!! I love it! I'm sorry about the car and the cold and the bus and the walk...but it is drawn so well!

Fun reading! I also liked the authenticity post...good thoughts there.

Ahhh, the bus. Nothing like riding a bus is there.

I enjoyed this glimpse into your life very much. It was funny and sweet.

I have fallen behind and look what I've missed! I especially liked the picture of you going down the hill. And your rendition of the Hulk Hogan bus driver!
