Hafez and laundry, chapter 3

This is what my work looks like when I'm somewhere between rushing and frantic. I did these this morning before work, and am posting them now just as they are. Artistic readers might print these out, edit them, and then add color using crayons or colored pencils.

Love your work and really love when you show how you do these! Thanks for sharing!

I love seeing your illustrations in all their phases! You are so good at capturing the essence of a scene, whether in full color or just a sketch. I think that the sketches are actually the heart of the whole thing, but then you make them even livelier when you add color. It gives me great pleasure to be able to be a witness of your work. You have a great gift and I thank you for sharing it.

Hey, thanks you guys. The whole blog is an experience of discovery for me. I'm not an artist by training. It's scary to post them without color, because it reveals my uncertain hand. But taking the chance to be vulnerable, whether in life or in art, often brings out the richest interactions.

I wouldn't dream of printing out your work and changing it in any way. I love it just the way it is. Fabulous!

Love it Caroline. And thinking about gelato right now. :)

A girl after my own heart who knows to put an exclamation point after the world gelato! (i gelati e buoni and my favorites are lemon, coconut and pistachio - a random fact I can now exclude when I reply to Nina).

Your post just brightens a dull day! I loved the sense of movement and anticipation you created by putting your face in the window three times. It's brilliant!

And that large group of people that have caught your attention. You have a gift for being able to create intrigue without using words.

It's just a matter of time before you are asked to create these for a magazine or newspaper. And I can say I knew you when!

Can't wait 'til Saturday! You're good at timing suspense, I tell you! (Like the idea of leaving the drawings free for coloring by readers, btw. Invitingly creative of you!)

Your attention to detail is growing in leaps and bounds, I love the basket of laundry in the previous post. And you are so good at capturing the essence of your adventures in your work, even your sketches. BRAVO!

Don't rush or feel hurried on our account. Put up your great illustrations when you feel like you and they are ready.

This was a fun post to read and I think I shall do what you suggest - print them out and then colour them in. I liked the gelato counter!

I'd love if you posted more links to good poetry.

I appreciate your sketches, too.
They help me understand the process--not just the outcome.
It amazes me that even what you hurriedly create, has such character.
