Well, can you believe it? This summer's issue of "Artful Blogging" features an article about "Caroline's Crayons."
This is an excellent and inspiring magazine, and I feel so honored to appear in it. I've scanned the first of four pages here. If you wish to see the entire article, you can find it at some small craft stores and at Borders Books (in the crafty magazine section.)
Part II: Cards
A second chapter in my fame is this: I would like to start selling cards and postcards featuring some of my favorite images. Do you have advice concerning Etsy or CafePress? You could leave a message here, or e-mail me directly (carolineaksoy AT gmail.com). Thank you for your thoughts.
Here are some that I am considering:
Well, thanks for coming tonight. I'll sign all autographs at the book table. Bye-bye.

HOW COOL IS THAT??? I am so proud of you! I bet you are positively beaming!
I have had some stuff made at Cafepress and I was very impressed with them. I had some photos made into tiles and the first set were too dark and they told me to just keep them and they covered not only re-doing them but the shipping cost for the new ones. Very rapid responses to email. This was about a year ago, though--they might have different people working there now.
At any rate--congratulations!!!
Caroline, congratulations! Why am I not one tiny bit surprised? I have no advice on the selling of the cards, but I will be first in line to order when they are hot off the press! I am just so pleased and happy for you.
Wheee!
WOW WOW WOW!!!! How deserving!!! See it was your lucky 8-8-8 day (see my email when you get back).
Obviously I like the very debonair, sophisticated, gentleman perusing the wine in the wine shop. Won't everyone?
You can go to vistaprint.com and make very inexpensive cards from your images and then I say get thee to your local book store or card shop and let them sell your cards for you. They will take off! No one is better deserving.

Congratulations! That's very exciting!!!
Congratulations. Its great to be recognised & that looks like a nice publication. Great idea about the cards & postcards.
wow! grats on the new fame!
Congratulations! That's terrific! I'm going to get me a copy of that magazine.
I'm so glad you are thinking of doing cards. I'll be first in line. Can't help you with the info you ask for, but I'm sure someone will come through with that. You've made some good choices - but so many of your drawings would work. Be sure to include lots of cats and dogs.
Congrats! And YES, YES, YES to selling cards!

Congratulations!!! Of course you are featured in Artful Blogging! Of course! I definitely want to find myself a copy and safe it for signing!
And yay to the cards. I love the shoes and also the marshallows!
Way to go, Caroline!
Congratulations! That's so awesome & you certainly deserve it! I'll be picking up a copy of this ASAP.
As for CafePress, I've had a "store" there for many years & have yet to sell a single thing. I'm afraid their base prices are a bit too high & making any money with it takes far too much self-promotion effort. You might want to consider looking for the most recent version of the "Artist's & Graphic Designer's Market" you can find at the local library. It would take less effort (& pay better,) to apply to card companies, directly (if you do, don't forget to include a copy of this magazine write up for their perusal!) Best of luck!
We have a Borders book in my home city in England, I'm definitely going to have to check to see if they're selling it here too.
And congratulations to you! Your blog is wonderful and deserves the recognition :-)
Wow I am impressed. You rock hard girl.
I don't have advice about how to produce the cards, but I second the comment that you should definitely include cats and dogs -- I find I can sell as many cat and dog things as I can make! And your images are definitely a natural for cards. I would purchase them for sure. I'm certainly glad you were featured in the mag because that's how I happened upon your site and I'm glad I did. Keep up the great work -- I look forward to seeing more.
Well, I was going to pass on getting this issue of Blogging, but now I must get it...congratulations! I am so pleased that I found you out here in Blogland, I have crayons and color with my Grandkids now and then, but I never saw it like you have done. Wonderful! Mary
Congrats....you go girl!
I think the cards are a great idea if you can only find the right place to sell them. I have an idea...The Ellen show showcases innovative things occasionally.I have seen artwork on her show from time to time. She loves human interest stories. You could make up a card putting Ellen in it (in a funny situation)...she might just show it on the air.It would have to be a large sample card, so she could show it to the audience.Tell her about yourself. Include the magazine.I don't know if you watch the program, but Ellen loves dogs...animals of all kinds, she dances on each show...it would be easy to find something interesting to draw with her in it.Just an idea. Again...good for you!
Your "fame" doesn't surprise me a bit, Caroline. You may remember that I even predicted it back in your "Potato Prints" days. I am so happy for you and agree with the gentleman that advised you to make your cards and take them to the book stores, etc.
Also the idea for the "Ellen" show is great too.
I wonder if you have to worry about people copying your pictures. I'm sure you'll get a lot of great e-mails with advice.
Congratulations! I've been hoping you'd find a wider audience, and this may be the beginning. I can't choose a drawing for cards, because I like them all! I've no experience as an Etsy or Cafepress seller, so can't offer advice, but I hope you do get some cards out into the world! Well done!
CB - I just did a google search on "cafepress review" and it comes up with a bunch o' sites that have user reviews. Hopefully, that will give you more info. Overall, they looked positive.
Remember me when Oprah interviews you!
I got the magazine today, and sure enough there you are. This is such a good thing. Hugs, Mary
I am thrilled about this. Your talent should be recognised. What wonderful news!
I SAW YOU!!! I sent for the magazine because I am new to blogging and it looked interesting and was going to go to everybody's site listed in there, they all looked so great.....I loved yours and then I wind up here without even realizing it, from Cate's site! I have a friend who sells her cards of her photos in a local book store and does quite well...have heard Etsy is a good place to sell art and am thinking about it myself!
congratulations to you! ;)
i don't have any advice or anything, but if i saw these postcards around (esp the man with bottles), i'd definitely buy them.
I bought Artful Blogging this afternoon just for the article about you. Wow, how lovely and inspiring. Thank you!
